Challenges in the Face of Disaster

Various devastating disasters have occurred over the centuries that have challenged the capacities of people to react in ways that are a test of character. While not pleasant to contemplate, the Bible warns of increasing evils as we approach the end of this age. We should be prepared as Christians to meet the challenges of potential future disasters, situations that will be a test of our faith and character.

In “Challenges in the Face of Disaster,” we examine some prophecies that we need to be aware of, and discuss spiritual principles and concepts that with God’s help will enable us to meet in a godly manner whatever such challenges we may face as the world becomes more perilous.

Will You be in the First Resurrection?

Is God looking for an excuse to exclude you from his kingdom? Or does he want to grant salvation to you as an heir in his kingdom? And what must you do as you live your life as a Christian, to do your part to assure your place in God’s kingdom when the time of the first resurrection occurs?

Love the Truth — Part 2

Scripture instructs us to love the truth (Zechariah 8:19). We are warned that we are subject to being deceived if we do not “receive the love of the truth” (2 Thessalonians 2:10). Further, we’re told that God hates lying, and hates lies (Proverbs 6:17, 19). The punishment of eternal death awaits those who persist in lying and will not repent (Revelation 21:8). In this message are discussed additional points related to the subject, “love the truth.”

The Two Covenants — Part 7

Can one become a party to the New Covenant merely by “confessing the name of Christ?” Does one have to be a member of this or that particular church organization or body to be party to the New Covenant? Is the Covenant individual or collective? How long is the Covenant to remain effective? Once entered into, can it be broken? These questions must be answered if we are to know where we stand before God and with relation to His Covenant.

The Two Covenants — Part 3

According to Scripture, the Old Covenant was given to Israel because of transgressions. Or, as the Bible in Worldwide English Version puts it: “Why then was the law [the Old Covenant] made? God gave it… because so many people were doing what was wrong” (Galatians 3:19).

But within that overall framework were at least five major reasons for the giving of the Old Covenant. Understanding what those reasons are will help us understand the mind of God, and can teach us vital lessons in how we, as Christians, or as human beings fit in with what God has in mind for us.

In this message we explore in some detail three major reasons for the giving of the Old Covenant, and how they relate to the New Covenant, and to lessons that relate directly to us and our relationship with God.
